Close to everything

In the city of francesinhas, the Douro River and majestic bridges, you’ll breathe in the vibrant life of Porto. From the centre down the beautiful riverbanks that stretch out to incredible scenic views, Porto has everything you’re looking for. It has culture, history, good food – there’s so much to do, you’ll never get bored!

From Livensa Living Porto Boavista, you can stroll through the city’s central districts to the Casa da Música. From there, if you fancy a wander, head down to the banks of the Douro, where you and your friends can enjoy a glass of wine. Around Livensa Living Porto Campus, you’ll have the university and the best student scene in the city. To get to the city centre, we recommend you hop on the metro.

If you like to get out and about

Porto is the city that port wine is named after. But that’s not all; it also gave its name to Portugal, formerly called Portucale. The city is much more than this, though; the minute you set foot in Porto, you’ll discover a place with a unique charm, where ancient and modern fuse perfectly to create what is at once a cosmopolitan city and an intimate one. It’s a source of inspiration; those who visit always end up wanting to return.

And why? Because of markets like Bolhão, avenues like Aliados, churches like Carmo, bridges like Luís I and towers like Clérigos, all of which are missed by those who’ve had the chance to visit them.

A few minutes from the city, you’ll find Vila Nova de Gaia, located just across the Douro River from Porto. This area is famous for being where the port wine cellars are located. No wine lover could possibly leave the city without tasting some ofits offerings: perhaps a glass of port, or a classic vinho verde.
The more culinarily adventurous should try some of the local sandwiches called francesinhas, some tripas à moda do Porto, some bacalhau à Gomes de Sá or a caldo verde. All of these, along with other fish dishes and preserved meats, are local specialities.

If you’ve got other plans, like maybe going surfing, the beach at Foz – just a short distance from Porto – is the place for you.

For those who like a little nightlife, we recommend the Baixa de Porto, the crowded concert and party spot Maus Hábitos, the Foz area with its legendary disco Indústria, or just enjoying some wine on the banks of the Ribeira, one of the most beautiful areas of the city.
